The National UK Three Peaks Challenge
& The Three Peaks of Yorkshire Challenge

Both challenges involve a walking distance of around 25 miles, the main difference being the height gained, the time taken, and the travel between each mountain and climbing some of the highest peaks in the UK. The National Three Peaks Challenge requires some 450 miles of transport between each peak - the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is more simply a circular walking route. Most people attempt the National Challenge over 24 hours, Yorkshire in around 12 hours. Details of charity events and 3 Peaks records. National Three Peak Challenges

Normally starting near Fort William, Highland, and finishing in Llanberis, Snowdonia - this makes an ideal team challenge that may be completed over a weekend. However, if you have the time, it's well worth staying in Wales after your challenge to enjoy a celebratory drink or two before having to face the long drive home. Teams trying to complete the challenge without stopping overnight before or after the challenge often find they are exhausted simply from the huge amount of travel involved - most popular format involves an overnight stay in Fort William accommodation , starting your challenge next day.

Although many groups organise and plan their own Three Peaks Challenge, a large amount of groups wish to take part in an Organised and Supported challenge event alongside a number of other similar teams. Many charity fundraising events require a large pledge, sometimes as much as £6000, from your group.

Those wishing to take part in an Open Three Peaks Challenge with just a simple entry fee, and no fundraising committment may consider the

Located near Settle in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Horton-In-Ribblesdale makes a convenient and superbly scenic base for your Three Peaks of Yorkshire Challenge. Although most people aim to complete the route within 12 hours, this popular challenge makes an excellent weekend event, with Horton having plenty of hotels, Inns, B&B's and also camping and bunkhouses.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks is often used as a group training challenge before taking on the national 3 Peaks Challenge. More info than a wiki..!
