National 24 Hour Three Peaks Challenge

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains of Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) in a continuous period. Many people aim to try and complete this challenge, including the driving between each mountain, within 24 hours.

The total distance walked is some 24 miles, the height climbed is some 10,000 feet, and the total distance driven is over 450 miles (not including getting to the start, or getting home after you've completed the challenge).

The most popular format is to start your Peaks Challenge with Ben Nevis, from nearby Fort William, then travel to either Wasdale or Seathwaite in the English Lake District to climb Scafell Pike, then finally travel to Llanberis in north Wales to make the climb of the final peak, Snowdon. It is perfectly possible to attempt your challenge starting in Wales and ending in Scotland too.
